Questions, answered

Everything you might want to know about growing trees, plans and credits, and how we handle your data. Can't find it here? Get in touch.

Getting started

Do I need an account to try it?
No. You can start growing trees as a guest — no email, no signup. Creating an account is optional and mainly lets you keep your trees in one place across devices.
Is it really free?
Yes, it's free to start. Guests and free accounts get a daily usage cap that resets each day, which is plenty for exploring an idea or two. If you want to grow more in a single day, Pro removes those daily caps.
What can I make with MagicTrees?
Anything you'd brainstorm on a whiteboard — product names, content outlines, project plans, research angles, lesson ideas, trip itineraries. You type a topic and the AI grows it into a branching tree of ideas you can prune, re-grow, and reshape until it's yours.

How it works

What does “grow” do?
Grow asks the AI to branch a topic into related ideas. Each new branch is aware of the rest of your tree, so the suggestions stay on theme instead of drifting. Grow any node to go a level deeper.
What does pruning and re-growing mean?
Pruning is deleting the branches you don't want, so the tree reflects only the directions worth keeping. Re-growing takes a branch you like and expands it further. The loop — grow, prune, re-grow — is how a rough topic turns into a focused set of ideas.
Can the assistant edit my tree?
Yes. The built-in assistant chat can add, rename, reorganize, and grow branches for you — just describe what you want. Every change it makes is fully undoable, so you can experiment freely and step back if a direction doesn't work out.
Is there a voice mode?
Yes. Voice mode lets you talk through ideas instead of typing — handy when you're thinking out loud or working hands-free — and the tree grows from what you say.
What views are there — canvas or outline?
Both. The canvas view shows your ideas as a visual, spatial tree you can pan and explore; the outline view shows the same tree as a structured, top-to-bottom list that's easy to read and copy. Switch between them anytime — it's the same tree, two ways of seeing it.

Plans & credits

What is Pro?
Pro is our subscription for people who use MagicTrees regularly. It removes the daily usage caps that apply to free and guest use, and includes a recurring allotment of credits. See your dashboard for current plan details and pricing.
What are credits and when do I need them?
Credits power AI actions like growing and re-growing. Pro includes a regular allotment; if you need more in a given period, credit packs let you top up on demand. Casual, day-to-day exploring generally stays within your included usage.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel your Pro subscription whenever you like and keep access through the end of your current billing period. For billing questions, reach out via support — full terms are in our Terms.
What happens when I hit a limit?
When you reach a daily cap or run out of credits, growing pauses and we'll let you know — your existing trees stay fully intact and viewable. Free daily caps reset the next day; on Pro you can add a credit pack to keep going right away.

Data, privacy & AI

Is my data used to train AI models?
We don't sell your content, and our aim is to keep your trees yours. Because the specifics matter, please see our Privacy Policy for exactly how data is handled, including anything related to model training.
Are my trees private by default?
Yes. Trees you create are private to you unless you choose to share them. Sharing is always an explicit action. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
How does sharing work?
You can share a tree so others can explore it, and export any tree as JSON to back it up or move it elsewhere — with matching JSON import to bring trees back in. You stay in control of what you share and when.
How accurate is the AI?
Treat AI-generated ideas as starting points, not final answers. They're meant to spark thinking and can be incomplete or wrong, so review anything important before acting on it. See our Privacy Policy and Terms for more.
